Senior Planning and Development Manager
John plays a key role in the identification and appraisal of land opportunities at Somerston, advising on bids and establishing the planning strategy for sites. He also oversees the existing portfolio, steering sites through promotion and planning application processes, engaging with local authorities, landowners, consultants and agents.
He brings wide-ranging private sector experience in both strategic planning and development management, with a strong track record on complex and sensitive sites, including successful major Green Belt promotions and brownfield regeneration across a wide range of local authority contexts nationwide.
John joined Somerston in 2023 from a strategic land promoter, having previously led a regional planning team at a national property consultancy. He holds a degree in Urban Studies and Planning and a Diploma in Town Planning from the University of Sheffield, and is a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
